ENOUGH OF THE SITH

I saw Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith this morning with Kas. Let me tell you that Star Wars brings out a different side of Mr. Studious-Art-Guy. I don't mean he's a serious fan who has collections of Star Wars memorabilia or anything like that, just that watching him watch the movie was more fun than actually looking at the screen.

Seeing Kas transform into an adolescent boy was definitely the highlight, because I would have been bored otherwise. My expectations weren't extremely high, so it wasn't a big letdown, but I think the movie took itself too seriously. Humor would have helped it out a lot.

Kas had fun, though. I don't know that he would give it a high rating, but that kid beside me was having a good time with it.

FRIENDS

I don't think I'm a very good friend. I used to think I was, but I think I need to re-define friendship.

Can anyone tell me what makes someone a good friend? There are a lot of qualities I could list, but maybe I'm missing some crucial ingredient. I try to accept friends "as is" - conventional or unconventional. Their qualities and flaws all go into making them who they are, and I've always tried to accept them, part and parcel.

Suppose that means accepting them even if they DON'T accept me the same way.

TIME IS AN ILLUSION; LUNCH TIME DOUBLY SO

I saw Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy today, and was hoping I could write a glowing review, but was disappointed. It was reasonably well done and funny in spots, but it left me feeling let down. The reason, at least in part, is likely because of the memories associated with watching my dad's bootleg tapes of the original British series when I was a kid. It was something I shared with my dad and I remember laughing a lot, but my sense of humor might have changed some since age 10 or so. You think?
